Six people have been put in prison in Guinea after being accused of traveling with the corpse of a relative who had died of Ebola, the BBC reports.

Authorities said the corpse was dressed in jeans, a T-shirt and sunglasses, and seated upright in the back seat between the other passengers.

"It is regrettable that some families with the help of transport providers are dressing up cadavers and seating them upright between other passengers," Guinean police captain Claude Onivogui was quoted by CBC News as saying.

Last week, Dr. Sakoba Keita, Guinea's National Ebola Response Coordinator, told Ebola Deeply in an in-depth interview that taxi drivers must be placed at the forefront of the ongoing battle against Ebola. He spoke of several recent chains of transmission prompted by the transportation of dead bodies by taxi.

Guinea's transportation network relies heavily on shared passenger taxis, which leave from stations when full: They usually cram at least nine passengers into Peugeot cars with two rows of seats.
