Fire hits residential area in Talayan Village, QC

Published August 11, 2017 10:55am Updated August 11, 2017 12:07pm Fire broke out at a residential area in Talayan Village, Quezon City on Friday morning, according to a report by Allan Gatus on radio dzBB.

The Bureau of Fire Protection raised the fifth alarm past 9 a.m.

A separate report from dzBB's Rod Vega confirmed that the fire hit an area where informal settlers reside.

According to the report, the fire is currently burning a row of houses made of light materials.

Firefighters are also having a hard time entering the premises affected by the fire due to the isolation of the place.

However, they have managed to connect pieces of fire hoses together to get to the areas that are hard to reach by fire truck.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire.

Several witnesses, however testified that the fire broke out at around 9 a.m. in one of the houses.

The first alarm was raised around 9:15 a.m. and was later on raised to fifth or general alarm.

At least 500 houses were destroyed by the fire, according to a report by Marisol Abdurahman on News To Go. 

The fire has since been placed under control but an unverified report stated that there may still be residents trapped in the area.Authorities are checking this out. —Akari Nakano/KG/KVD, GMA News.
