By: Dexter Cabalza - Reporter / @dexcabalzaINQ Philippine Daily Inquirer / 07:14 PM February 27, 2018 A fire which hit a commercial building in Parañaque was finally put under control after almost eight hours on Tuesday.

Firefighters contained the blaze that swept through the Ed and Jo Building on Quirino Avenue in Baclaran as of 6 p.m., according to the Parañaque Bureau of Fire Protection.

At least 30 units in the building, which is owned by a certain Richard Jose, were destroyed by the fire that reached fifth alarm.

According to Parañaque BFP, no one was reported hurt, although two fire volunteers have complained of difficulty in breathing while battling the fire.

The fire started at 10:22 a.m. and was raised to fifth alarm as early as 11:35 a.m. Fire fighters remained on the scene to put out the fire as of posting time.

Investigators said the fire allegedly started at a printing store on the ground floor of the building. The cause of the fire, however, was still under investigation.

Damage to property was estimated at P2 million.

At least 34 fire fighters from the local government units and BFP rushed the scene.
